Why Squarespace

We’ve received this question often enough, so we thought it deserved a little attention.

Why Squarespace?

REASONS WE CHOSE SQUARESPACE AS OUR DESIGN PLATFORM

  1. Daniel, our owner and Lead Designer, has used Squarespace for more than a decade. He’s seen their early designs, and their most recent updates, and is very familiar with it. He knows its many strengths, and of course its weaknesses too. And he knows how to get things to look great without making things too difficult to use.

  2. They have a great track record. Squarespace has been around for quite a while now and we are fairly confident that they will continue to be around and to offer a great product.

  3. It’s easy for end-clients to use. Since we are a design company, we don’t consider ourselves the “end client”. OUR clients—those who we build websites for—are who will be stuck with it after we have designed it and turned it over to them. So it needs to be simple enough for end-clients to use, make changes to, and update. Squarespace fits those needs perfectly.

  4. Their websites are beautiful! Of course, that can depend a lot on the design, but Squarespace makes it very easy to build a beautiful website.

  5. The option of adding custom CSS. CSS is custom design code, which allows us to customize the look and feel of the website. It’s not required to use Squarespace, and usually not much is needed. But for cases where a specific look and feel, or even functionality, is required, we have the option.

  6. All Squarespace websites are responsive design. This means that the website will look great on any screen, no matter the size: mobile, tablet, or desktop.

  7. Squarespace is secure. All Squarespace websites have SSL security included, meaning your site is safe to use with modern web standards and security.

  8. SEO is easy with Squarespace. Part of existing on the internet is being found. That means your website needs to use best practices to rank high in search engine results. And Squarespace, by default, uses excellent SEO practices and give clients the tools to go even further.

  9. Third-party integration is fairly easy. Plugins that connect social platforms, analytics, marketing, and a host of third-party tools are easy to integrate and deploy on Squarespace.

  10. Squarespace excels in blogging or other regularly posted content. Their blog designs and functionality are beautiful and easy to use. And for nonprofits like churches who regularly publish content (such as Sunday sermons), this is the ideal platform.

  11. There’s plenty of analytics built in. Their stand-alone analytics are already great, but add to that the Google Search console, and you have superpowers! This allows you to see what content is performing well, which buttons are being pressed, what forms are driving conversions and sales, what customers are searching for, etc.

  12. The Squarespace help system and customer support is amazing! If you can’t figure out the answer to your problem, their help system and customer support are top of the line. PLUS—there are so many great user communities around Squarespace who support one another very well.

These are just a handful of reasons why WE choose to use Squarespace. But if you need more, do a quick Google or YouTube search and you’ll find lots of people who agree (and a few that don’t).

If you have questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to reach out!
