Meet our lead designer

Hi there! My name is Daniel, and I’m the Lead Designer/Owner at DAN. At the time of this writing, I’ve been married for 17 years and have two kids. My wife is the Youth Pastor at our church and I’m the Online Campus pastor, and we’ve been in ministry together for 14 years.

I’ve been using Squarespace for our church website for around 14 years at this point. As the Online Campus Pastor, I’m always looking for ways to make our church website more useful and a central hub in our church’s community. And so I’ve experimented with just about everything you can do with Squarespace without add-ons, and many other things you can do with Squarespace when you add custom code and other extensions. I’ve tweaked designs, peeped pixels, and fiddled with settings.

Just as importantly, I’ve made lots of mistakes with Squarespace too. That’s one of the most effective ways to learn after all. That’s one of the many great things about Squarespace is that you can experiment with all kinds of things to see what kinds of results you get. Most of the time I don’t like the designs I come up with. That leads to constant tweaking and more experimenting until I come up with something I like.

My general niche for building websites is small businesses, nonprofits, and churches. I can do other things, but these tend to be where I’m at my best. I understand the needs of church websites and marketing, and how to leverage Squarespace’s features to those ends. I have made many small business sites and I know how to make them beautiful, and how to turn visitors into customers.

And so I’ve gotten really good at making websites. I know Squarespace really well and I’m confident that I can make a great website for your business or nonprofit.

Let me make your next website.

In case you’re interested, here’s more about me.

First, something that’s important to know about me is that I don’t have a lot of favorites…of anything. I like a lot of things, and my “favorite” is usually the last thing that I experienced.

For instance, I don’t have a favorite food. I like a lot of different types of food, and my favorite is usually the most recent thing I’ve eaten. What I can tell you is that I don’t like onions, curry, or raspberry flavorings.

My kids drive me crazy, but I love them very much. They’re both just like their parents, little mini-me’s. And they’re both really smart. They already outsmart us, and they’re still young.

My wife is amazing. She is my favorite person in the world. She’s good at everything she does…except for spelling. She’s also a lion personality, which means just move out of the way and let her do her thing. But don’t cross her…

I don’t have a favorite movie per se, but I love sci-fi. I love Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Star Trek, Stargate, comic book movies, and action/adventure movies. I’ve also been known to watch comedy movies too. I guess the only type of movie I don’t like is romantic movies.

Dad jokes make me happy, as well as the feeling I get when I’m done mowing the grass (though I hate take the time to mow the grass). I’m really pasty white and don’t like the sun, so I tend to avoid going outside if I don’t have to.

Strangely enough though, I grew up in the woods of Alabama, with lots of cousins. We spent our summers playing in the river, riding dirt bikes and 4-wheelers, and fishing. And I really do enjoy those things. But the older I get, the nerdier I get, and I find that I prefer staying indoors working on my computer.

Currently, we live in Central Florida, in a small town, which is the way we prefer it.

Oh, and I LOVE watching football. I prefer college football, but I’ll watch any good football game. Specifically, I love Alabama football. Saturdays in the fall are reserved for football. Don’t plan weddings, family picnics, or church events on Saturdays in the fall. Saturdays are for football. Roll Tide.

Finally, the most important thing in the world to me is my relationship with Jesus. He’s the reason I do everything I do. I’m so thankful for his love and his grace. And this business is built on Biblical principals. We treat people right, tell the truth, and give over and above to the Kingdom and to missions.
